In each panel please select/click on the amount of difficulty that you or your carer/caregiver have experienced in doing the activity, over the last 7 days.

This assessment helps you evaluate how the affected arm is cared for during everyday activities. Each question relates to a specific task and asks you to rate the level of difficulty experienced in performing that activity over the last 7 days — either by the person themselves or by a carer/caregiver.

  • Part 1 asks about caring for the affected arm — this may be done by the person themselves using their unaffected arm, by a carer/caregiver, or through a combination of both.

  • The section does not ask about using the affected arm to complete any of the tasks.

  • Be as accurate as possible. Consider how the activity feels most of the time, rather than on a particularly good or bad day.

  • Base your answers on usual performance, not on what you think could be achieved with extra help or effort.

  • Select one option per activity — from No difficulty to Unable to do activity.

  • If an activity is not used or not applicable (for example, wearing a splint), please select “No difficulty.”

  • There are no right or wrong answers. The aim is to identify where additional support or treatment may be needed and to track progress over time.

  • Once all items have been rated, a total score will be automatically generated. This score helps guide the next stage of treatment planning.

After completing the assessment, you will move on to Part 2 – Treatment Planning, where you can set goals and select appropriate interventions for each area (wrist and hand, elbow, and shoulder).

Caring for the wrist and hand

  • To put-on the splint independently for 6-8 hours per day within 3 weeks.
  • To enable a carer to put-on the splint with you for 6-8 hours per day within 3 weeks.
  • To decrease the difficulty of you cleaning the palm of the hand from 9 to between 8-5, on a 10-point numeric scale, in 5 weeks.

  • To reduce stiffness related pain in the fingers from 7 to 6-5, on a 10-point numeric scale, within 4 weeks.
  • Reduce pain in the wrist and fingers from 7 to 6-4 on a 10-point numeric scale, during washing.
