This assessment is designed to help you evaluate how you use your affected arm in everyday activities.

Each question relates to a specific task and asks you to rate the level of difficulty experienced when performing that activity.

  • Part 1 asks about using your affected arm — either by yourself with your unaffected arm, by a carer/caregiver, or through a combination of your own effort and assistance from a carer/caregiver.

  • The section does not ask about caring for your affected arm in order to complete the tasks.

  • Be as accurate as possible. Consider how the activity feels most of the time, rather than on a particularly good or bad day.

  • Base your answers on your usual performance, not on what you think you could do with help.

  • Select one option per activity — from No difficulty to Unable to do activity.

  • There are no right or wrong answers. The purpose is to identify areas that may benefit from treatment and to track progress over time.

  • If you are unsure how to rate a task, think about how much extra time, effort, or assistance is needed compared to before your arm difficulty began.

  • Once all items have been rated, a total score will be automatically generated. This score helps guide the next stage of treatment planning.

After completing the assessment, you will move on to Part 2 – Treatment Planning, where you can set goals and select potential interventions based on the assessment results.

Goals will need tailoring to specific clinical needs and this can be done in the goals selection box.

  •   To prevent your hand forming a fist when undertaking a difficult activity such as doing up buttons.

  • Maintain current range of movement in the fingers of the left hand at neutral in the finger joints for 4 months.
  • Maintain current range of movement in for the left wrist at neutral for 4 months.

Functional task practice

  • Hand task practice (e.g. reach, grasp, release) incorporating Constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT),
  • Active reach, grasp, release exercise with repetition to enable progression.
  • Dynamic/exercise splints to support exercise programmes.
  • Consider games and virtual reality supported games
